Before he found his way to the turntables, Fred Matters was a student at the Musicians Institute. After his formal training in classical and jazz, he joined the nightclub scene and ran successful nightclubs in Hollywood. With that, it was over to the turntables and on to a new phase in his career, performing at top-tier events like Sundance, SXSW and The Grammys. He’s played to a 19,000-person crowd at the Staples Center and opened for the likes of Avicii, Snoop Dogg, Rehab, Jermaine Dupri, Paul Oakenfold, Trey Songz, The Weeknd, and Sidney Samson. Not only does Fred Matters know music, but he knows how to read a room – and that’s what makes him one of the greats.
